Dell Presents the Precision M6500 Notebook

So, you are curious to check out that which Dell considers to be the most powerful mobile workstation in the world? So am I, especially since it has come up with quite the press release regarding the potential of its new Dell Precision M6500. A device that has been created to “liberate” professionals, designers, animators, engineers and so on from the confines of their desktop environment! After all, who doesn’t want to get their home with them anywhere?

“The Dell Precision M6500 establishes a new class of mobile workstation for the most demanding computing environments,” said Greg Weir, senior manager, Dell Precision workstations. “This system is truly a desktop replacement without compromise. In addition, we’re leveraging our robust ‘eco system’ of partners to deliver the performance users require running applications in key vertical markets such as 3D animation, Computer Aided Design (CAD), engineering, and scientific exploration, defense visualization and other computationally intensive applications.”

The M6500 allows for up to 16GB of DDR3 memory, has an optional Intel Core i7-920XM Quad Core Extreme Edition processor, optional RGB LED edge-to-edge 17-inch screen with 100 percent user selectable color gamut support, three internal storage drives, optional 2mp camera, multi-touch touchpad and, of course, the new NVIDIA Quadro FX 3800M graphics solution. Pricing starts at 2,749 USD.

“By integrating the new NVIDIA Quadro FX 3800M graphics solution into the Precision M6500, Dell has created a high performance mobile workstation that’s ideal for the most demanding 3D design, oil and gas exploration, and scientific visualization professional,” said Shawn Worsell, product manager, NVIDIA Professional Solutions Group. “Featuring the massively parallel CUDA computing architecture, plus a 1GB dedicated frame buffer to ease the manipulation of expanding seismic datasets, this is an impressive, next-generation notebook solution from Dell for our mutual customers that demand mobility without sacrificing visualization horsepower.”
